OBLIQUE ANGLE FILM CLUB is an open community event to generate healthy conversations on mental health and well-being through the medium of cinema.

In August we discussed the classic Kannada film Sharapanjara, which drew in new members who reminisced about watching this drama many years ago when it was first released, admiring at how it rings true even now. Many themes were discussed including the disturbingly realistic portrayal of mental unravelling of a young mother in the post natal stage, and her family’s struggle in accepting her back after her recovery. Heated debates ensued which only reaffirmed the many lens through which mental health and wellness can be viewed.
