A disordered body image can be caused by shaming experiences, teasing, heightened interpersonal sensitivity, socio-cultural messages of ideal body image, and beauty . Body image issues present clinically as social anxiety, disordered eating, depression, excessive reassurance seeking, overvalued ideas of body distortions and even.<br \/>\nIn this workshop you will learn the basics of identifying body image concerns and how to help clients develop a healthy view of self in therapy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meet the expert<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paulomi Sudhir is a professor, and head of the Behavioural Medicine Unit at the Department of Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS. She has worked extensively in the area of behavioural and cognitive behavioural interventions in a variety of populations.Her clinical and research interests include cognitive behavioural therapies, mindfulness-based interventions, transdiagnostic approaches in CBT, psychological processes in health and health behaviours, including perfectionism and interpersonal sensitivity.<br \/>\nShe has published 80 research papers in national and international journals in her areas of interest and nine book chapters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Learn about different presentations of body image concerns in clients seeking therapy.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the role of self-and selfschema, dysfunctional beliefs in addressing body image concerns\/dissatisfaction by using a contextual\/functional analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to formulate plans in working with body image concerns, and identify key therapeutic strategies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Also sign-up for a peer supervision session on Eating Disorders on 30th March at a combined discount. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/theparc.in\/staging\/6685\/?post_type=mep_events&amp;p=8408&amp;preview=true#\">Click here to view event<\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Zoom link will be provided 1 hour prior to the session.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Body image is a part of the larger self-schema, the internal representation of ourselves.
