Body image is a part of the larger self-schema, the internal representation of ourselves. A disordered body image can be caused by shaming experiences, teasing, heightened interpersonal sensitivity, socio-cultural messages of ideal body image, and beauty . Body image issues present clinically as social anxiety, disordered eating, depression, excessive reassurance seeking, overvalued ideas of body distortions and even.
In this workshop you will learn the basics of identifying body image concerns and how to help clients develop a healthy view of self in therapy.
