Clients with Eating disorders are often challenging to work with. In my experience they not only require long-term work but also lot of commitment and effort from the therapist. Research has documented that clients with anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa evoke intense feelings of hostility, anger, hopelessness, frustration, and stress in therapists, more than any other psychiatric disorder.
We hope to use this reflective space to better understand the presentation of such clients, the dynamics between the therapist and client, and also the interventions that may be effective.
We discuss two clinical cases brought by participants during the three hour peer supervision.
