Introduction to Mentalization-Based Treatment: A Manual for the Engagement Phase
This manual was developed by The PARC to support clinicians delivering the engagement phase of Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT), adapted for the Indian context from the Anna Freud (UK) MBT Introduction Manual and Leaflets.
It’s designed to be a practical companion — something practitioners can use alongside formal training, supervision, and clinical judgement, not in place of them.
Who is this for?
This manual is intended for mental health professionals with some grounding in MBT — whether through The PARC, Anna Freud (UK), or another recognised training program — as well as those engaged in research related to MBT. If you’re currently practising MBT, planning to begin, or working in a related research capacity, we’d love for you to have this resource.
An evolving resource
We’re still refining this manual based on feedback from the clinicians using it. That’s part of why we ask a few questions before granting access. Your responses help us understand how the manual is being used, what’s working, and what needs to change in future versions. We may also reach out later for a short follow-up survey or to hear more about your experience.
Cost
A nominal contribution of ₹425 (+ GST) is requested to support the administration and continued development of this resource.
