Meet the panel

  • Dr Mahesh Odiyoor, Psychiatrist and strategic clinical director at CANDDID –Dr Mahesh is a psychiatrist in Psychiatry of Intellectual Disabilities at Greenways and Eastway Assessment and Treatment unit, Cheshire and Wirral partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP). He is also the Strategic Clinical Director of the Care Group for people with Learning Disability, Neurodevelopmental Disorder and Acquired Brain Injury.  He has co-developed the Centre for Autism, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, and Intellectual Disability (CANDDID) in 2019. CANDDID has provided the framework to develop and deliver a range of service improvement approaches/tools, education including postgraduate programmes as well as research.  Dr Mahesh is the clinical lead and deputy chair of the Northwest Operational Delivery Network (ODN) for Autism and Learning Disabilities which has been coordinating the work in the NW region (England) on models of care for Children and adults with a Learning Disability and /or Autism. Dr Mahesh also has a national role as the finance Officer of the Faculty of Intellectual Disability at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) and is the chair of the clinical network of Assessment and Treatment services of the RCPSych ID faculty.
  • Dr Nithya Poornima, Child and adolescent clinical psychologist –
    Dr Nithya Poornima is a clinical psychologist who has extensive experience working with children and adolescents. She was trained at NIMHANS, Bengaluru and has held faculty positions at Montfort College, Bengaluru and Department of Clinical Psychology, NIMHANS. She is an independent practitioner and consultant clinical psychologist in Bengaluru. Parenting, fostering emotional well-being and resilience, early childhood enrichment, play and creative expressive methods of intervention, yoga and mindfulness are some of my areas of interest. Her other interests include, training of mental health professionals and self-care among mental health professionals are other areas of interest.
  • Dr Ajit V Bhide, Psychiatrist and pschotherapist –Dr Ajit Bhide is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist with a keen interest in youth mental health, medical ethics, psychosomatic medicine, psychotherapy and preventive psychiatry. He is a past president of Indian Psychiatric Society at state, South Zonal and National Level. He is actively involved in Training for Corporates and Educational Institutes.
