Skills Lab – Boundary Setting in the Therapy Room

Event Description

Boundary setting in therapy is crucial for the safety of both the client and the therapist. This skill needs to be learnt early in the career of a clinician and applied early in the course of therapy both for containment and healing. In this skills lab we will use case scenarios and simulators to learn the art of applying boundaries firmly but with kindness.

This session is intended for

  • Therapists in training (clinical psychology, counselling, psychiatry, social work)
  • Early-career therapists interested in relational approach
  • Therapists/Trainees with curiosity about MBT but no prior formal exposure

Learning Objectives

Through case scenarios, AI case simulations, live demonstrations, role-plays, and constructive feedback, you will learn to:

  • Understand what makes certain boundaries more difficult than others
  • Exploring and managing the therapist’s own emotions
  • Finding balance between flexibility and firmness
  • Repair of rupture when boundaries are broken
